I am so excited about this product. IOMEGA REV Drives are a blessing for the IT-Manager that has nightmares about his backup tapes failing when he most needs them – THE RECOVERY! – !

I stumbled over this product a few weeks ago, when I was researching our new backup solution. I was and I am still looking for a affordable Disk to Disk to Tape (D2D2T) solution to backup AND restore our 15 Servers and round about 500 GB of data (Read my article about my endeavor in the storage world).

IOMEGA REV Drives are a great and very affordable replacement for unreliable tape technologies. We have replaced our 4 DLT drives with an IOMEGA REV Autoloader! 10 Disks with 35 GB native capacity and um to 90 GB compressed (per disk!) gives us the opportunity to backup all of our servers to one drive. The speed is amazing; roughly 8 times faster then our ‘old’ DLT drives. But the best was the price. We bought the Autoloader with enough disks for 1 week retention for under $2500!

But even single drives are a blessing; available are IDE, SCSI, USB and Firewire versions for a few hundred dollars!
